A joint project of UB and Kaleida Health will help link clinical
care and teaching with research and commercial application in the
health sciences.
UB and Kaleida Health are constructing a $291 million, 10-story
facility at Goodrich and Ellicott streets that will help Buffalo
attract and retain “superstars” in key health sciences
fields. The building will house research and development
facilities, including UB’s $118 million Clinical and
Translational Research Center (CTRC) and a UB Biosciences
Incubator. It also will house Kaleida Health’s $173 million
merger of its cardiac, stroke and vascular operations, plus a new
and expanded emergency department. The project represents a
ground-breaking collaboration between UB and a leading Buffalo
teaching hospital and is a major step in implementing the
recommendations of a state commission on reform of health care
delivery in the region. Construction is scheduled to be
completed by early 2012.
