The civil engineering department at George Mason University.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering at GMU is in the final phase of receiving a donation of 2012 Passat from Volkswagen Group of America.
A lab for driving behavior and safety studies will be established based on this platform. The department also houses several transportation-related software including ArcGIS, TransCAD, VISSIM, CORSIM, and HCS. Moreover, the research team at GMU has recently collected some high-resolution longitudinal GPS data from several high-profile travel behavior studies, including one conducted after the I-35W Bridge Collapse in Minnesota, and a second focusing on the Inter-County Connector corridor in Maryland. GMU has also developed a data portal website to collect infrastructure maintenance information using crowdsourcing and social media.
