UB pharmacy school to welcome Class of 2023 in White Coat Ceremony

BUFFALO, N.Y. – One hundred and thirty-three students will take their first step toward becoming pharmacists when they participate in the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Annual White Coat Ceremony.

The program is scheduled on Aug. 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.

The White Coat Ceremony symbolizes passage into the initial stages of the profession of pharmacy practice and represents a contract for excellence in providing compassionate patient care.

This event also highlights the importance of scientific scholarship and emphasizes the highest principles of moral, ethical and legal conduct. UB PharmD students taking part in this tradition are welcomed to begin study among the ranks of pharmacy professionals.

During the "Calling of the Class," Class of 2023 students are called to the stage and presented with their coat while their hometown is identified by Karl D. Fiebelkorn, senior associate dean for student, professional and community affairs and associate clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

The keynote address will be delivered by Kelsey Gregoire, UB alumna and clinical care resident and clinical pharmacist at Buffalo General Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit.
