Quantum technology advancement could help lead to improvements in computing

Phys.org reported on new UB-led research that developed a “traffic light” that can bring quantum waves to a halt. The advancement could lead to breakthroughs in computing, medicine, cryptography, materials science and other applications. The research was led by Jonathan Bird, professor and chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; and Jong Han, professor of physics in the College of Arts and Sciences.

"It's an area of research of immense importance," Bird says.
