Reducing wildfire risks for better management and resource allocation

An article in ScienceDaily on reducing wildfire risks cites research reviewed by Jun Zhuang, professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, who studied burning prescribed fires to design a model to calculate the effectiveness of these fires to reduce risks.

“Understanding when and where to burn these fires is vital in limiting excess spending and associated risks,” according to the study.
