Monday, April 18

Earth Week Luncheon Featuring Dr. Sherri Mason | 12:00 to 1:30 pm | C3 Dining Hall, hosted by UB Sustainability and Professional Staff Senate 

Enjoy a delicious lunch and help us kick-off UB's Earth Week Celebration at our second annual Sustainabilty Summit !  We'll be joined by Dr. Sherri Mason, Professor of Chemistry at SUNY Fredonia, who will share details about her research on the high levels of microplastics in Lake Erie.  The event will conclude with annoucing the SLICE awards (Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement). 

 AquaConscience opening reception |6 pm | The Project Space, Center for the Arts

Join us for the opening reception of AquaConscience, a student art exhibition to help generate campus-wide attention of human impacts on oceanography and marine life.

Wednesday, April 20

Students Leaders & Sustainability Social networking event | 3:30 pm| 210 Student Union, landmark room

Join us to welcome UB’s first class of ELFs (Educational Leadership Fellows in Sustainability) as they present results of Green it Forward, a campus-wide energy reduction initiative, and their plans for implementing UB ReUse, a toward zero waste move out program. 

Learn how local sustainability professionals came into their line of work, share your interests and current projects, and discover possible internship or job opportunities.

Thursday, April 21

UB's Earth Week Bull Ride | 12pm | Meet at Spaulding Lot | Hosted by UB Parking and Transportation and UB Professional Staff Senate

Registration opens at 11:30 am--Ride Begins at 12 pm Sharp

Take part in a four mile fun ride on the Ellicott Creek Trailway during lunch hour. Open to all University members. The UB Bull Ride is the beginning of a series of UB community rides that wil take place on teh Ellicot Creek Trailway and University at Buffalo North Campus. Early birds can practice putting your bike on a Stampede bus.

Reimagine Capitalism: Transitioning to a Regenerative Economy  | 4:00 pm| Screening Room CFA

UB Renew Distinguished Lecture by John Fullerton

Global threats — from climate change and accelerating inequality, to the financial crisis of 2008 — have led an increasing number of thought leaders and policymakers to question the long-term viability of today’s mainstream, extractive economy.  This lecture will look at the emergence of the Regenerative Economy as a necessity. This lecture will cover the interconnected principles of a Regenerative Economy and how we can work together to affect this paradigm shift.

Join us for this informative and engaging lecture about reimagining capitalism and creating a regenerative economy.
