Monday, April 20th

     Spring into Eco Beauty | 11 am to 2 pm | Student Union Lobby, hosted by Alpha Kappa Chi

Learn how to "green" your beauty routine; learn about the sharing economy through clothing swap (including a clothing drive if it is possible for us to get a bin); natural health & wellness tips promoting local & sustainable practices.

    Taking Root 2.0 Preparing the Campus Garden for its 2 Season | 11 am to 2 pm | Student Union Lobby

Leave your mark and get your hands dirty planting seeds and painting containers as we prep for the upcoming growing season.

Join UB Geology department for hydro and sediment lab tours, an introduction of a new pilot project about urban runoff and its effects on the Great Lakes, and demonstrations, snacks, and prizes

     All But Clothes (ABC) Eco-fashion show | 8 pm | Greiner C-Wing Classroom

Join us for an Anything But Clothes fashion show where clothing is made from everyday materials. Try your hand at modeling or designing in this competition.

Launch of Solar Strand Educational App | 10 am | Solar Strand on North Campus

Join us as children from local schools explore the solar strand using newly launched Solar Strand educational mobile app. 

Sustainability Summit and Green SLICE Awards | 3 pm | Black Box Theater CFA

Join us for UB's First Annual Sustainability Summit where we'll be rolling out the green carpet for the Green SLICE awards; Erik Foley, managing Director of Penn State's Sustainability Institute, will share insights about Penn State's innovative approach to integrating sustainability; and we'll wrap things up with a reception to mix and mingle. Join us this half-day summit that brings together STEM allies from UB and the surrounding WNY community to share their experiences. Sign up here

     “SustainEGGbility” Egg Drop with recycled materials | 11 am to 3 pm | Student Union Lobby 

Hosted by Honors Student Council.  Come design a “landing craft” for an egg using provided materials and drop it off the 2 floor balcony. See if your egg survives! More details can be found here.

    Organic Bake Sale | 11 am to 1 pm  | Student Union Lobby

Come join us in a bake sale, hosted by the Environmental Network.

     Build Your Own GRoW Home Competition | 12 to 1 pm | Student Union Lobby

Use scissors, glue, tape, clay, and recycled materials to build your own version of a house to compete in the Solar Decathlon. We won't be testing how well your house is powered by Solar, but we will be testing for things like water resistance, wind, and general stability. Come join us!

     WNY Sustainable Business Roundtable Earth Week Showcase | 8:30 am- 10:30 am | The Buffalo Niagara Partnership 665 Main St #200

This event will highlight how being green creates green and will include an opportunity to meet the newly elected WNYSBR Directors and Officers, hear from Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz about the importance of sustainability in economic development, and much more. More info here.

     University at Buffalo honored with 2015 US EPA Environmental Champion Award | 2 pm | Lower Manhattan NYC

Vice President Dennis Black will be receiving this award on the behalf of the University.

     Lake LaSalle Cleanup with Kayaks | 3 pm to 6 pm | Lake LaSalle

Help to beautify the lake. Help us to cleanup the neighboring area with kayaks. Hosted by OAC and Outdoor Pursuits.

    Relay for Life | 4 pm to 6 am | Alumni Arena

Help raise awareness and funds for cancer research by participating in this 12 hour charity event. Click here for more information

Saturday, April 25th

Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper’s Spring Shoreline Sweep | 10 am to 12 pm 

Join many groups including Academies, AKX, Environmental Network, and Engineers for a Sustainable World in helping to clean up area waterways. More info here.
