For Shivani Kamodia, a member of UB’s Environmental
Network, being an environmentalist and studying dentistry go hand
in hand. A self-identified people person, Shivani
Kamodia’s desire to improve people’s lives resulted in
creating her own major, Environmental Health Sciences to study the
connection between health and the environment. While working
in UB’s dental clinic, Shivani saw an opportunity to lessen
the harmful environmental effects of health care services and
combine her passion for helping people with her love for the
environment. The knowledge Shivani will gain during her
studies will eventually be transferred to her practice as a
dentist, lessening her personal environmental impact and inspiring
other dental professionals to do the same.
