How to Apply

If you want to join the Directed Energy program, we'd like to hear about your business, markets, needs and opportunities.

Project Assistance

This program is designed for companies that are launching new technologies, products or services and need help in meeting near-term goals. We will customize the assistance to meet your company needs, including: prototype development; advanced testing; developing a marketing/sales strategy and production planning. To receive funding, you must provide a 25% cash match and a reasonable royalty on sales, which helps keep the program “evergreen.”

Business Plan Assistance

Directed Energy strongly encourages an updated and comprehensive business plan for your company. We can help you create or revise such a document and may even be able to provide some funding (up to 10K) for this activity. The awards (including the company’s match, minimum 25 percent) are used for hiring experts who work with you over a three to six month period. With this assistance, you would write your business plan while also agreeing to meet regularly for progress reports. Frequently you begin this process before receiving any project assistance.

SBIR Phase 0

Insyte Consulting can help energy companies prepare quality SBIR/STTR proposals. Insyte provides free assistance to individuals and companies seeking grants for innovative technology development grants in response to federal agency solicitations. Staff members help you understand the program, application strategies, licensing and commercialization issues as well as reviewing rejected proposals.
