Deborah Raines

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Pregnancy, labor and delivery, maternal and newborn care

Deborah Raines is an expert in the areas of perinatal, neonatal and maternal care. She can speak to the media about pregnancy, child birth, newborn health and parenting behaviors.

Her current research focuses on using computerized manikins to improve infant care transitions from intensive care nurseries to the home. She is also investigating whether family, cultural and geographical influences may lead some mothers to place their newborn children in unsafe sleeping positions.

Raines trains UB nursing students gaining clinical experience within the labor and delivery, maternal-newborn and neonatal intensive care units at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.
