Health education day
Nursing school to bring health services to King Center
Faculty and students from the School of Nursing will bring the Wellness on Wheels van to the new King Urban Life Center at 938 Genesee Street in Buffalo for a health screening and education day, to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 16.

The nursing faculty and students will offer free lead screening for children, as well as provide blood pressure, hearing, vision, blood sugar and cholesterol testing for adults. Information sessions will address women's health issues, and participants also will have the opportunity to discuss health concerns privately with a UB faculty nurse.
Wellness on Wheels, a 37-foot mobile health clinic, is sponsored by the Catholic Health System and the Independent Health Foundation. It is equipped with two exam rooms, a blood-drawing area, audiology booths and a waiting/registration area.
The King Urban Life Center is a private non-profit corporation formed in 1988 to save the former St. Mary of Sorrows Church that was slated for demolition. The center opened in 1998, and now houses several community programs, as well as a public school for children in pre-kindergarten through second grade.
