An international film series representing diverse styles of filmmaking and reflecting the international art of cinema will be presented during the spring semester by UUAB and the Center for the Arts. The films will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Screening Room, Room 112, in the CFA. Admission is free.

The schedule includes these films:

Feb. 17, Contempt (1963), France, directed by Jean-Luc Godard. The hero is hired to rewrite a film of Homer's Odyssey, shot in Rome and Capri, directed by the legendary Fritz Lang, played by Lang himself, and produced by the crass Jerimiah Prokosch, played by Jack Palance.

March 1, The Thief (1998) , Russia, directed by Pavel Chukrai. The Academy Award-nominated film, told from a child's view as his mother is seduced by a con man, is an intense drama set in the Stalinist 1950s.

March 15, The Man Who Left His Will on Film (1970), Japan, directed by Nagisa Oshima. A young leftist finds the camera of a radical who has leaped to his death while fleeing the police. Set in Tokyo in the 1960s, it is a haunting and politically intriguing film.

April 5, Nights of Cabiria (1957), Italy, directed by Federico Fellini. The Oscar-winning chronicle of a saintly prostitute is Fellini's most popular film. This recently restored version includes a crucial never-before-seen episode, reportedly cut under religious pressure.

April 19, My Life as a Dog (1985), Sweden, directed by Lasse Hallstrom. This acclaimed film chronicles the experiences of 12-year-old Ingemar, sent to stay with relatives in the country. The boy survives adjustment to a new environment through his imagination and friendship with the town's other misfits.
