Four to be inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame
The UB Alumni Association will induct four new members into the university's Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner to be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16 in Alumni Arena on the North Campus.
The Alumni Association established the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1965 to acknowledge the importance of intercollegiate and club athletics. It honors outstanding athletes, teams, coaches and other individuals who have represented and served UB's athletic program in a professional or participatory capacity in an exemplary manner.
This year's inductees are:
- Angela Blaser Baggett, who earned a bachelor's degree in management from UB in 1992, was an exceptional freestyle and backstroke swimmer. She is a 14-time All-American in NCAA Division II (6 individual, 8 relay).
- Kelley A. Brennan, who received a bachelor's degree in the social sciences interdisciplinary program in 1990, and had an outstanding volleyball career as an outside hitter. Brennan was the MVP at the 1989 ECAC Championships after leading her team to victory. She also was the team MVP in 1988 and 1989, and was honored as the 1989 UB Female Athlete of the Year. At the time of her graduation, she held five UB volleyball records, including three of the most significant: Most Kills, Kill Average and Most Kills in a season.
- Lynda J. Glinski, track-and-field and cross-country star who graduated from UB in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. A four-time All American in indoor and outdoor track (800 meters), Glinski was team captain and is the current school record-holder in the 800 meters and the 400-meter hurdles.
