Joyce Anderson, 42, Career Planning and Placement Associate

Services were held April 14 in the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg for Joyce Anderson, a UB Career Planning and Placement associate, who died April 9 when she was struck by a pickup truck while walking with her husband along Ward Road in the Town of Boston. She was 42.

Mrs. Anderson's husband, Mark, 46, who suffered massive internal injuries, remains in serious condition in Erie County Medical Center.

State Police said the Andersons were walking a short distance from their home when they were struck by a truck that swerved to avoid a dog on the road.

Mrs. Anderson had been employed at UB for one year, after serving as a graduate assistant in Career Planning and Placement for two years. Earlier she had worked for the state Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

A graduate of Hilbert College, she held a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in career counseling from UB. She was active in several professional organizations, including the Niagara Frontier College Placement Association, the Society of Human Resource Managers and the American College Personnel Association.
