New paintings by Sheldon Berlyn
"Sheldon Berlyn: New Work" opens April 4 with a reception from 7-9 p.m. in University at Buffalo Art Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus. Show continues through June 8. A concurrent show of Berlyn's new work will be on view April 27- June 1 at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University. UB Art Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday Noon-5 p.m. Admission is free.

Student art for sale
A sale of two-dimensional art works by graduate and undergraduate students is scheduled April 18 from Noon-4 p.m., and April 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Atrium and the Art Department Gallery in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Educated artists
"The Senior Show," work by graduating seniors, continues through April 8 in Art Department Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus. Includes painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, communication design, and computer art. Gallery hours are Tuesday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Admission is free.

Student photo show
"Social Photography: The Meld," an exhibit of photographs by students, is on view through April 11 in the Oscar A. Silverman Undergraduate Library (UGL) located on the first floor of Capen Hall, North Campus. The exhibit features black-and-white photographs by Jennifer Bonheim, Linda Mutka, Haniel Rodney, and Renee Ziegler. They are students in a social photography course taught by David Gordon. Design exhibit
"Cannon," curated by Christopher Less of Cannon Design, is on display through April 18 in the James Dyett Gallery, 334 Hayes Hall, South Campus. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Buffalo News scholarship
The Financial Aid Office is accepting applications through May 24 for the Buffalo News Scholarship for students pursuing a career in journalism and news reporting. Three scholarships will be awarded; applicants must be juniors or seniors enrolled for the 1997-98 academic year, and must have a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. The Financial Aid Office is located in Hayes C, South Campus. For information, call 829-2491.

Health science scholarship
The Abe Halbreich Memorial Fund offers scholarships and low interest loans to undergraduates who are health science majors. The Financial Aid Office in Hayes C on the South Campus is accepting applications through May 24. For information, call 829-2491.

Retirement system seminar
A one-day New York State Employees' Retirement System Seminar will be held June 6 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus. There will be one session for Tier 1 and 2 members, and another for Tier 3 and 4 members. There will be representatives from the Social Security Administration, the Dept. of Civil Service, and the company that administers the New York State Deferred Compensation Program. Employee Assistance Program seeks volunteers
The Employee Assistance Program is seeking volunteers to fill the position of coordinator. EAP provides assistance with a variety of problems employees may be having-family, medical, legal, financial, etc. Deadline is May 19 for résumé and letter of application addressed to Chair, EAP Search Committee, Personnel Services, 104 Crofts Hall, North Campus.
