Other contests Thursday: top seed Troy State meets No. 8 Chicago State at 12:30 p.m.; fourth seed Northeastern Illinois faces fifth seed Valparaiso at 2:30 p.m.; defending champion and second seed Youngstown State takes on No. 7 Western Illinois at 5 p.m.

Two semifinal games will be played Friday, March 7. The championship game will be played Saturday, March 8, at 4 p.m., broadcast live by Empire Sports Network. Tournament champion earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

Ticket prices are $15, reserved all-sessions pass and $12, general admission all-sessions. Daily sessions are $7, reserved seating and $5, general admission. UB and Mid-Con Conference students admitted for $1.

BULLS DROP CHICAGO STATE IN MEN'S TOURNAMENT OPENER
After leading by only four points at the half, the Bulls pulled away in the second half to dispose of Chicago State 81-58 in the first round of the Citgo/Mid-Continent Conference Tournament in Moline, Ill. UB moved into the semifinals for a meeting with third-seeded Western Illinois, a team the Bulls had beaten twice during the regular season.

The Bulls hit on 20-of-30 shots in the second half as they outscored the Cougars 51-32 in the final 20 minutes. UB used a 12-0 run early in the half to build a cushion and didn't look back. UB led by no fewer than 20 points in the last five minutes as all 12 Bulls scored in the game. Rasaun Young led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points while Mike Martinho and Scott McMillin added 11 and Matt Clemens had 10. Clemens and Nathan Johnson led the team with eight rebounds apiece.

The Bulls saw their season come to a close late Monday night with a heartbreaking 80-77 overtime loss to Western Illinois in the semifinals.The loss closed out a 17-11 season for the Bulls.

Prior to the tournament, the conference announced the All-Conference squads voted on by the coaches and the media. Young and Martinho earned first-team nods from the coaches, while the media named Young to the first team and Martinho to the second. Young finished as the conference's regular season champion in scoring with his 20.11 average and ranked among the league's best in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, rebounding and assists. His 39 points vs. Northeastern Illinois ranks as the league's best this season.

MEN'S SWIMMING
Korry Miller set meet, pool and school records, winning the 200 backstroke at the ECAC Championships in Gloucester, N.J. Miller won the race in 1:49.22, a time good enough to qualify him for the U.S. Senior Nationals. The Bulls placed fifth out of 43 teams.

Kevin Jessop tied the UB school record with his seventh-place finish in the 400 Individual Medley. Dan Hickey took fifth place in the 200 freestyle. He was eighth in the 100 free and part of 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, (eighth), 800 free relay (fourth) and 400 free relay (seventh).

Miller took fifth in the 100 backstroke and eighth place in the 200 Individual Medley; Mark Horgan was sixth in the 500 freestyle and eighth in the 400 Individual Medley.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING
The Royals finished seventh out of 43 teams in last weekend's ECAC Championships in Gloucester, N.J. UB scored 283 points to finish behind champion North Carolina-Wilmington and second place William & Mary. Diver Andrea Skillman took a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter competition and followed with a sixth place showing in the 3-meter event. Lieselle Trinidad placed fifth in the 100 butterfly finals and tied for fourth in the 200 butterfly. Martie Duffett was seventh in the 400 Individual Medley. Duffett, along with Sue Bohnel, Carrie Grant and Roxanne Kuba placed fourth in the 800 free relay competition.

WRESTLING
The Bulls are back in action this weekend when they head to Lewisburg, Pa., for the East Coast Wrestling Association Championships at Bucknell University. Competition begins on Saturday, March 8, and concludes on Sunday, March 9, with the crowning of the team champion and individual weight-class winners. Champions of the 10 weight classes, as well as two wild cards, move on to the NCAA Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on March 20-22.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
At last weekend's ECAC Championships in Hanover, N.H., the Royals' Terry Scherne broke her own school record in the pentathlon competition with 3,500 points. Shelley Hamilton competed in the high jump, finishing with a leap of 5-7 3/4.
