Reporter Volume 26, No.9 November 3, 1994 UB opened its sparkling new Center for the Arts last weekend, offering a full plate of performances, exhibits and tours to welcome faculty, staff and students as well as the Western New York community. The enthusiastic crowds gathered under the soaring atrium explored the open spaces as well as the nooks and crannies of the handsome new structure that finally brings the departments of Art, Media Study and Theatre and Dance under one roof. Last weekend's Grand Opening events kicked off a month-long festival that will introduce the state-of-the art facility to the fferings last week were poetry presentations, concerts, drama and dance performances, including appearances by Bruce Cockburn, the Canadian Brass, the Amherst Saxophone Quartet and Tanzfabrik, Berlin Dance Co. Among the coming week's features are plays, storytelling theatre, video screenings, and an appearance by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
