October 27, 1994: Vol26n8: Obituaries: Russel C. Pease, former librarian Private services were held this week in Chester, Mass. for Russell C. Pease, 56, former UB librarian. A memorial service will be held in Burlington N.C. Pease died Oct. 15 in Buffalo General Hospital after a long battle with cancer. A native of New Jersey, Pease grew up in North Carolina. He came to Buffalo in 1982. From 1984-1986, he was assistant director for public services at Lockwood Memorial Library. A graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina, Pease earned master's degrees in German and library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He taught German at the College of Charleston in South Carolina and worked as a librarian at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, the University of South Carolina and the University of Georgia. In 1986, Pease began a new career as a travel agent and was employed by the American Automobile Association at the time of his death. Survivors include his mother, Bertha, and a brother, Robert, both of Burlington.
