Musicologist Maynard Solomon, one of the foremost musical biographers writing today, will present a lecture titled RMozart: A ComposerUs VoiceS at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 in 211 Baird Hall on UBUs North Campus. Admission is free. SolomonUs lecture will explore the origins of MozartUs personal creative voice, concentrating on works from the composerUs Salzburg years, 1772-75. In addition to his landmark biography on Beethoven, and a forthcoming study of Mozart, Solomon has written articles on Schubert and Ives, and edited a book on Marxist aesthetics. An independent scholar, he has taught at Columbia and Harvard, and this year at Yale. SolomonUs unique combination of psychoanalytic and cultural approaches to musicology has yielded startling insights and sometimes sparked heated controversy.
