Castellani, president and chief executive officer of Tops Markets, Inc., has been reappointed chair of the Board of Trustees of the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc. Castellani has been affiliated with the foundation since 1986. The foundation promotes the activities and programs of the University at Buffalo by providing support and advice regarding fund-raising, managing gifts and grants on behalf of the university, providing a wide range of financial services for various university units, developing and managing real property on behalf of the university, and providing a broad base of private-sector support for UB through the foundationUs trustees and directors. The board of trustees is responsible for raising the communityUs awareness of the need for private support for UB, soliciting gifts on behalf of the university and managing assets received by the foundation. Castellani joined Tops Friendly Markets as a stock clerk in 1962. After holding several managerial positions, he was appointed director of operations in 1975. In 1991, he was named president and CEO of Tops Markets, Inc. The company employs 16,000 people and operates 64 Tops Friendly Markets, 93 Wilson Farms Neighborhood Convenience Stores, 10 B-Kwik food stores and nine VIX Deep Discount drugstores throughout Central, Western and Southern New York State and in Bradford, Pa. Other officers appointed by the foundation are John L. Hettrick Sr., chairman and CEO of WSF Industries, Inc., vice chair; Richard E. Heath of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods and Goodyear, secretary; James M. Wadsworth of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods and Goodyear, assistant secretary, and Donald A. Ross, president of Rand Capital Corp., treasurer. The foundation also reelected several trustees for three-year terms. They are Sal H. Alfiero, chairman and CEO of Mark IV Industries, Inc.; Robert T. Brady, president and CEO of Moog, Inc.; Burt P. Flickinger Jr. and John N. Walsh III, chairman and CEO of Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc. The following directors were re-elected to three-year terms: Brent D. Baird, a limited partner in Trubee, Collins & Co.; Jonathan W. Reynolds, chief investment officer of Marine Midland Bank; Jeremy M. Jacobs Jr., senior executive vice president of Delaware North Companies, Inc.; William G. Gisel Jr., executive vice president of Rich Products Corp.; Louis R. Reif, retired chairman and CEO of National Fuel, and William I Schapiro of Jaeckle, Fleischmann and Mugel. Walter E. Kempa Jr., a partner in Ernst and Young LLP, was elected a director for a three-year term.
