Reporter Volume 26, No.24 April 13, 1995 UB President William R. Greiner has announced that university officials have begun the process of determining how best to proceed with the work of the Office of the Provost in the immediate and near-term future. "Even as our university community struggles to come to terms with the shock and sorrow of Aaron Bloch's death, we must move forward with some pressing and difficult issues -- such as fiscal and academic planning for 1995-96 -- in which the Office of the Provost is key," said Greiner in an April 11 memorandum to university officials. Greiner plans to discuss interim provostal arrangements, search strategies and other pertinent issues with the vice presidents, deans and several other constituencies in the next 7-10 days. "Within that time we will come to and report some clearer understanding of how the provostship will be handled in the longer term. Clearly, given the intricacies and difficulties of UB's current fiscal and political climate, it is urgent that we answer that question with all due speed, and we will," Greiner said in his memorandum. In the meantime, Senior Vice Provost Kenneth J. Levy will serve as officer in charge for all provostal matters.
