February 2, 1995: Vol26n15: CHOICES Muir String Quartet returns to Slee Friday They're back! The Muir String Quartet returns to Slee Hall Friday to continue its presentation of the Slee/Beethoven String Quartet Cycle. The concert, which is scheduled for 8 p.m. Feb. 3, will feature Op. 95 in F minor ("Serioso"); Op. 18, No. 6 in B-flat Major and Op. 132 in A minor. A highly regarded and insightful ensemble, the Muir String Quartet is composed of Peter Zazofsky, violin; Bayla Keys, violin; Steven Ansell, viola and Michael Reynolds, cello. Considered one of the world's most powerful ensembles, they appear regularly on major chamber series in North America. Formed in 1980, the Muir String Quartet in 1981 won the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the 1980 Evian International String Quartet Competition. They also appeared on the internationally acclaimed PBS broadcast "In Performance at the White House," where they performed for President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.
