TELEPHONE DIALING CHANGES North America is running out of telephone numbers. The ever-increasing demand for telephone numbers for paging and cellular services has exhausted the pool of available numbers in some areas of the country. In order to accommodate the requirement for additional number combinations, changes to the North American Numbering Plan are slated to take effect Jan. 1, 1995. NYNEX has scheduled the following changes of which the university community should be aware: o Calling Card and Operator-Assisted calls -- both to and from numbers in the same area code -- now require that the caller dial 0 + area code + 7 digit telephone number. o Starting Dec. 17, 1994, all Regional Toll Calls -- both to and from numbers in the same area code -- must be dialed by either using the 7 digit telephone number or 1 + area code + 7 digit telephone number. Note that the dialing of calls within the 716 area code using the 1 + 7 digit telephone number format no longer will be accepted. For those within the university community who utilize speed calling, call forwarding, computer modems, FAX machines and PBX's, it may be necessary to reprogram the stored numbers. For more information, call 645-2750. VOICEMAIL in MATHEMATICS The Mathematics Dept. has converted to a voicemail system. The two numbers that access the system are: 829-2144 -- Main Office and all faculty offices, and 829-2148 -- Executive, secretarial, and inner-departmental (graduate and undergraduate) offices. Dialing these numbers will bring you into the correct directory and a guide through the individual extensions. Jobs Research Project Staff Assistant-Rehabilitation Medicine, Posting #R-94077.
