December 1, 1994: Vol26n12: Everything from Soup to Nuts As part of The Buffalo News' commitment to further the academic excellence of the University at Buffalo and its students, News officers came to the UB campus Nov. 14 to present the newspaper's second annual scholarship awards to UB students at a special ceremony. Greiner. A scholarship was awarded also to Hakeem Oseni, '96, editor-in-chief of The Spectrum, UB's student newspaper. Rochelle Jackson is assignment editor for The Spectrum. Jackson and Oseni were each awarded $3,000 as "Buffalo News Scholars." Last year, The News pledged $150,000 to the university to provide unrestricted support for campuswide priorities and a scholarship program to encourage students from groups underrepresented in journalism, to pursue education and careers in that field.
