Greiner as "students' president" at his inauguration as 13th president of University at Buffalo. Oct. 19, 1992 Pathways to Greatness Endowment Campaign goes over top, raising $56.3 million for UB. Nov. 12, 1992 $12 million Student Union opens to serve as hub for student life, offering 50,000 square feet of space for dining, theater, lounges, publications and organizations. SENIOR YEAR July 8, 1993 UB becomes a miniature United Nations as 5,000 World University Games athletes take over North Campus for ten days. Sept. 4, 1993 Grand Opening of UB Stadium, with ceremonies that include balloon rides, parachutists and parties, brings Division I football back to UB. Sept. 1, 1993 Fine Arts Center, with galleries, classrooms, theaters and labs, opens doors; official opening set for fall, '94. Sept. 9, 1993 UB gets five-year, $7.5 million grant to establish first national center for advancing devices for individuals with disabilities. Sept. 15, 1993 After 18 years at UB, Humorist Mark Russell gives final show in Katharine Cornell Theater. October 14, 1993 UB Council told of plan to build apartment-style housing on site near Ellicott. Nov. 10, 1993, George Will, ABC News commentator and political columnist, speaks at UB in Distinguished Speakers Series. Feb. 24, 1994 Bernice A. King, daughter of late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., speaks at 18th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration in Slee Hall. March 18, 1994 Buffalo Psychiatric Center and Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center in West Seneca become UB clinical teaching sites. March 24, 1994 Committees form to plan UB Sesquicentennial Celebration, to begin in May, 1966 and conclude at graduation, 1977.
