Reporter Volume 25, No.16 February 10, 1994 Edward P. Schneider, executive director of the University at Buffalo Foundation, is taking on additional duties and is being named associate vice president for development systems and operations, University Development. Reporting to Schneider will be management of the existing alumni database and gift processing system, says Vice President for University Advancement and Development Ronald H. Stein. The university, Stein adds, "is going out with a Request for Proposal for a prospect-tracking system that will include the existing alumni database and gift-processing system of the UBF. We don't have a prospect-tracking system right now. "This is a very sophisticated new software system that will in a sense be the infrastructure of the university's entire development program," Stein said. "The implementation of this, as well as the oversight and management of it, will report to Ed. Another area for him is gift processing and gift recognition, which again will report to him. This is a critical piece of any successful development program, which we've not had in the past and which we're now putting in place at UB. "Ed is uniquely qualified. We're very fortunate that he's agreed to accept these additional responsibilities," Stein said. "For one thing, he has personally developed wonderful relationships with a number of our donors and has helped to complement the development program. Given his long tenure at UBF, he represents our link to the past and ensures continuity." A member of the UBF staff for 17 years, Schneider earned his undergraduate degree at Canisius College and his MBA from UB. Within the UBF, he will continue to be the ultimate person in charge of fund-raising, financial services, real estate development and investments. The mission of the UBF is to support and promote the activities of the university by providing support, advice and counsel regarding philanthropy, fund raising, development; managing gifts and grants on behalf of the university; providing a wide range of financial services for various units; developing and managing real property on UB's behalf; and providing a strong base of private sector support for the university through the efforts of Foundation trustees and directors.
