Reporter Volume 25, No.16 February 10, 1994 MANAGEMENT HUMAN RESOURCES HONOR: Jerry M. Newman, an associate professor of organization and human resources in the UB School of Management, has been named 1993 Outstanding Human Resource Professional by the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. A UB faculty member since 1974, Newman has authored or co-authored three books, nine book chapters and more than 30 scholarly articles. He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Contemporary Business Issues. Newman received the SUNY Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1982 and the UB School of Management Distinguished Teaching Award in 1977 and 1988. He was named Distinguished Professor of the Year in the School of Management in 1992. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master's and doctoral degrees in industrial relations from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. DENTAL MEDICINE HEADS ORAL PATHOLOGY BOARD: Alan J. Drinnan, professor and chair of the Department of Oral Medicine in the UB School of Dental Medicine, has been named president of the American Board of Oral Pathology. The board, established by the American Academy of Oral Pathology, oversees the granting of oral-pathology specialist credentials to individuals who have completed certified training programs. Oral pathology deals with the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and adjacent structures of the face. A diplomate of the American Board of Oral Pathology, Drinnan is past president of the International Association of Oral Pathologists and the American Academy of Oral Pathology. He is director of the dental clinic at The Buffalo General Hospital and UB's Division of Hospital Dental Services. He has been a member of the UB dental faculty since 1964.
