Reporter Volume 25, No.12 November 18, 1993 Football UB closed out its 1993 football season at Central Florida with a 42-7 loss to finish at 1-10. It was the third straight game the Bulls played against a team ranked in the top 12 in Division I-AA. The Bulls grabbed an early 7-0 lead on their first possession when Sunnel Motley scored on a four-yard run. The drive was sustained when Rusty Knapp made a clutch reception on fourth down. QB Cliff Scott went 22 of 37 for 220 yards and one interception. Motley rushed for 125 yards on 19 carries. It was a career-high for Motley and his second 100 yard rushing performance of the season. For the season, Scott finished completing 176 of 320 attempts for 2,263 yards and nine touchdowns. Motley led all rushers with 670 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, Vince Canosa tallied 12.5 quarterback sacks. Men's Soccer The Bulls men's soccer team finished their season with an 8-8-3 mark following their 1-0 overtime loss to Hofstra in the East Coast Conference semifinals. Four BullsQTyler Ricks, Darren Boecher, Kevin O'Neil and Mike BonginoQwere named to the All-Conference team. Ediru Okpewho, Luciano Gallo, Eric Boecher and Jay Palmer also received votes from the conference's coaches. For the year, Okpewho, a freshman, led the team with 11 goals and one assist, a total of 23 points. Darren Boecher scored nine goals while O'Neil led the squad with seven. Wrestling Head Coach Charlie Cheney's wrestling team is off to a good start following their 31-6 defeat of Brockport State on Tuesday, Nov. 9. UB's victory was highlighted by freshman Rennie Cristafulli's overtime win at 142 pounds over Roger Scott 5-3. Cristafulli scored a take down on scott 33 seconds into the extra session. Matt Whitton at 190 pounds also scored a take down late in the third period to decision his opponent. Men's Swimming UB's men's swim team held off defending Atlantic 10 champions St. Bonaventure 130-107 Saturday to raise their dual meet mark to 2-0. Sophomore Michael Zvolensky led the team with his victory in the 200 IM in a time of 2:01:21. Freshman Dustin Ceratt took the one-meter diving competition with a score of 194.40 while teammate Justin Monin took the three-meter event with 218.47. Women's Swimming The women's swim team traveled to Niagara Nov. 10 when they defeated the Purple Eagles 146-94 to up their dual meet record to 2-0. Freshman Aymie Hilton won the 200 free in 2:00.19 and the 500 free in 5:29. 17. Freshman Megan Connolly also doubled winning the 200 IM (2:15.81) and 100 butterfly (1:00.83). The men's and women's swim teams will host Syracuse Saturday, Nov. 20 at Alumni Arena. Women's Volleyball Women's volleyball traveled to the Syracuse Tournament over the weekend where they fell in three games to Virginia Commonwealth 15-12, 15-6, 15-13 and Rutgers 15-1, 15-10, 15-7. The Royals then dropped a five-match decision to host Syracuse 13-15, 9-15, 15-10, 15-6, 15-12. UB is now 16-14 heading into the East Coast Conference Tournament at Hofstra on Friday.
