Climate Change

Baffin ice fields.

Ice sheets in Greenland are surprisingly sensitive to even short periods of temperature change.

Jason Briner, UB associate professor of geology, looks at Earth’s history to understand how long it takes these huge chunks of ice to respond to changes in global climate. Detailed analyses of this kind will be critical to developing accurate models for predicting how future climate change will affect glaciers around the world.
