What Happens to UB's Recycling?

Once collected by our custodial staff and removed from buildings, UB's recycling is picked up by Modern Corportation of Lewiston, New York and is then taken to Buffalo Recycling Enterprises in South Buffalo for sorting.

Materials are sorted with a combination of methods including by hand, optical sensors, blowers, etc.

Buffalo Recycling Enterprises will be constructing a recycling education center that will be open for guided tours with schools, scouts and groups. It is their hope that through their educational programs and community outreach, the awareness and benefits of recycling will grow. By teaching about the whole process, from how it is separated, to what is done with it after it leaves our facility to what it is made into, perhaps more individuals will be inclined to recycle.
