The Division of Athletics at SUNY Buffalo is hiring both Lifeguards and Instructors for our aquatic facilities on North Campus and South Campus.
Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Must enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications are required. A lifeguard assessment will be required for employment. Current rate is $12/hour
Additionally, we are also looking for candidates who may also be interested in teaching swimming lessons. Swim Instructors are responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants. We offer private and group swim lessons. Must have knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, life jackets, etc. Must have the ability to positively interact with the general public. Previous aquatic experience is preferred. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification is required to teach classes. Current pay rate is $14.50 for group lessons and $16.50 for private lesson instruction.

Regular safety drills are conducted during all programming.
Thank you for clearing the pool immediately when you hear the air horn. This will allow lifeguards to quickly conduct their rescue so that you may return to your aquatic activity with minimal disruption.
