Hello UB Colleagues,

I hope everyone has been settled into classes nicely. I first want to talk about some important information that everyone should pay attention to:

REGISTRATION ENDS SOON! See www.imleagues.com for details.

  • The Volleyball Season starts on February 19, 2018
  • The Indoor Soccer Season starts on February 26, 2018
  • The Basketball Season starts on February 26, 2018
  • The Floor Hockey Season on February 26, 2018
  • The Hybrid League: The Premier Soccer Cup begins on March 1, 2018

Now that we discussed the important dates for the UB Spring Intramural Sports season, let's discuss the Hybrid League: The Premier Soccer Cup. This league effectively combines both the indoor and outdoor soccer leagues into one big event.

Due to the weather as we discussed in our last week’s blog, we wanted to allow our athletes more time to play while combatting the effects of harsh weather in the winter. Our idea is to create a new league that allows players to compete in an indoor soccer season at Clark Hall until the weather gets better after Spring Break. Once the weather has improved, the members of the Hybrid League will then compete outside at Kunz Field. This brand new league will take place on Thursday nights. Playoffs are to be determined, depending on league size.

This season is to optimize an athlete’s diversity while competing both indoors and outdoors. The ultimate bragging rights go to the champion team that conquered both fields of play. Both fields will last three weeks each, which doesn’t include the playoffs. Registration ends soon so make sure you sign up!

Next week, we will be having an interview with one of our consistent outdoor soccer teams to give you all some direct information about what they feel about the UB Intramural Sports program.

Until then guys, I’ll see you on the field!
