President Satish K. Tripathi issued a message to the campus community today regarding employees’ return to campus for the 2021-22 academic year

“In January of this year, I shared that the University at Buffalo plans to resume our regular in-person instruction beginning with the fall 2021 semester. With commencement season underway, it has been a joy to witness the vibrancy on our campus and see our graduating students celebrating safely with faculty, staff and family.

Looking to the fall 2021 semester, we will soon begin phasing in the return of our employees. The intention is to have employees back in person by Aug. 1 so we can prepare for the start of the new academic year. As is customary, faculty’s in-person presence will coincide with their academic-year obligation.

The health and safety of our campus community will inform and guide our planning and operationalizing of regular in-person instruction, campus life and our work environment. We will remain vigilant to the threat of COVID-19 by continuing to follow UB’s health and safety protocols, including face coverings, physical distancing, testing and staying home if you feel sick. With the availability of vaccine in our community, we encourage our faculty, staff and students to receive their vaccination for their own safety and the public health.

In the coming weeks, Provost (A. Scott) Weber and Vice President (Laura) Hubbard will be sending additional guidance regarding the phased and full return to campus.”
