How submitted proposals will be chosen
The Provost will appoint a distinguished committee to evaluate
proposals and recommend funding priorities. The committee will be
comprised primarily of faculty chosen in part from a list of
suggestions provided by the faculty senate, and in part from
suggestions from the Academic Deans, possibly augmented by
selections from the Office of the Provost. Two members of the
committee will also be chosen from the support units by the Office
of the Provost. The committee will be instructed carefully at
the outset, and the rankings will be developed through a process
that will include individual rankings by the committee members
submitted electronically (at least three evaluations for each
proposal submitted) and a final meeting in October at which a
consensus ranking will be developed through discussion of the
proposals and their written evaluations and comments. The
final funding decisions will be made by the Provost in consultation
with the President.
