Dear Colleagues:

Over 35 years, the University Honors College has grown to become a thriving living-learning community of 1,200 highly motivated and academically talented students. Through a customizable curriculum of small group seminars, service learning, experiential learning opportunities and academic support programs, the Honors College fosters student leadership, independence, creativity and success.

I am writing to seek your nominations of senior faculty who may be interested in the role of Director of the Honors College.

Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, Professor Andrew Stott has served with distinction as Director of the Honors College for the past five years and has served in a dual capacity as Vice Provost and Dean for the past several years. Given recently expanded duties as Vice Provost and Dean, we are seeking new academic leadership for the Honors College.

The Director of the Honors College will provide academic leadership and vision for the College and will continue to raise its visibility and reputation nationally, developing an innovative curriculum and furthering the ongoing effort to make the Honors College a more diverse and inclusive academic community for all undergraduates.  The Director will report to and serve as an important resource for the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, particularly in the areas of academic policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, and student retention.

Further information about this important leadership opportunity is no longer available. Interested faculty candidates may also contact Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education Andrew Stott at vpue@buffalo.edu or chair of the search committee, SUNY Distinguished Professor Cristanne Miller at ccmiller@buffalo.edu.

Sincerely,
