UB Business Partners Day in June celebrated successful and productive relationships between industry, government and UB. Honored at the event were State Senator Mary Lou Rath, who received the Igniting Ideas Award for her leadership in supporting the university and its economic development initiatives in Western New York, and Moog Inc., which received the Vital Partner Award, the highest honor bestowed on a company by UB. In addition, Edmund Egan, pediatrics professor and president and chief executive officer of ONY Inc., and Bruce Holm, senior vice provost and executive director of UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, received the first University at Buffalo Faculty Entrepreneur Award for their work to develop and commercialize InfaSurf, a lung surfactant that prevents respiratory distress in premature babies.
