Who Can Ride

The Express Bus Home is exclusively available to UB students, faculty, staff and their friends and family. Each university member purchasing a bus ticket can purchase one additional ticket for a friend or family member. At least one UB photo ID card is required to board the bus. Guests will also need photo ID to board.

You are welcome to travel on the Express Bus Home even if your destination city is not your home. However, please note that you are responsible for your own transportation and place to stay once you reach your destination.

Drop-off and Pick-up Locations and Times

The Express Bus Home departs from Lee Road outside of Greiner Hall on the North Campus and returns to this same location.

Buy Tickets

Tickets are round trip only and are only valid on selected dates. To buy tickets, you will need a credit card, your UB person number, and personal and emergency contact information for all passengers (names and phone numbers). When you buy your tickets, you will also have the chance to buy tickets to the same destination for multiple breaks. (To purchase tickets to different destinations on multiple weekends, you must start the ticketing process over.) Tickets may be purchased up to 48 hours before departure, based on seating availability.

No Refunds

There are no refunds under any circumstances, so please plan your trip dates carefully. Tickets are valid for one round trip only and only for the dates on your confirmation page. Tickets can be exchanged for another date when seating is available.

Photo ID and Purchase Confirmation Required to Board

Everyone — including guests — must show photo ID at boarding. Please remember that at least one person in your traveling party must be a member of the UB community, with UB photo ID. Have the purchase confirmation page with you as proof of your trip reservation and payment, in case confirmation is needed.

Arrive 30 Minutes Ahead of Time

Passengers are responsible for getting to the bus stop at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Parking and Transportation Services and the transportation provider are not responsible for a passenger’s transportation, expenses or arrangements for alternative transportation if the passenger misses the bus on either the departure or return trip. Tickets are non-refundable.

What You Can Bring

Each passenger is allowed to bring one standard size suitcase (this will be placed in the luggage compartment of the bus), as well as a small carry-on bag (backpack size). Passengers are responsible for handling carry-on bags at all times. Food and beverages are allowed on the trip. However, alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Bus Amenities

Each bus has a lavatory, power outlets at each seat, as well as Wi-Fi access.

Transfer Your Tickets

To transfer your tickets to another person, you must notify the Parking and Transportation Services office 48 hours prior to departure. Whoever uses your ticket(s) must also have your purchase confirmation page, which is required to board the bus. The person using the transferred ticket must provide their contact information and emergency contact information to the Parking and Transportation office.

Handicapped Accessibility

There are a limited number of buses with wheelchair lifts. Please notify the Parking and Transportation Services office when you purchase your ticket if you require this service.

Weather Delays

During the ticket purchase process you will be asked for an email address and cell phone number for each rider. UB will make every attempt to reach riders in the event of a cancellation or delay due to extreme weather conditions or emergencies. In the event of an emergency or extreme weather, individuals may contact the Parking and Transportation Services office or University Police for more details.
