University-issued disability parking permits are required, in addition to municipality-issued permits, for members of the UB community who need special parking consideration due to a permanent or temporary disability.
Parking and Transportation Services does periodic checks of disability permits on the campuses to help discourage improper use. When parked in an accessible space, a parking enforcement officer may ask you to show your drivers license as proof of ownership.
To obtain a UB disability parking permit, provide your state-issued permit, or registration for your disability plates, and driver’s license to Parking and Transportation Services. You may bring the documents in person to 1Capen, Capen Hall, North Campus or email copies to email@example.com.
The permit will replace your regular faculty/staff or student UB parking permit. If you had a university-issued disability permit previously, you may renew it online through the Parking E-Business Center. The new permit will be mailed to you.
If you are a member of the UB community (student, faculty or staff) with a short-term disability, you can get a temporary hangtag that lets you park in accessible parking spaces. To apply, you will need to submit a Temporary Accessible Parking Permit Intake Form, a NYS DMV Application signed by your doctor, or a doctor's note on letterhead (not a script pad) stating your needs, effective dates and doctor's signature. Contact Parking and Transportation Services for instructions and forms.
