Comprehensive Program Review, conducted by university departments and supported by the Office of Educational Effectiveness, contributes to the university’s educational and research mission by ensuring quality assessments and continual improvement of graduate and undergraduate programs.

Purposes of Comprehensive Program Review

The purpose of the cyclical Comprehensive Program Review Process is to:

  • Provide a space for departmental reflection on its achievement of its mission and contribution of department activities to the University’s strategic goals;
  • Provide faculty and administrators, through constructive feedback, a collaborative and progressive opportunity to assess the program(s) for effectiveness;
  • Develop specific action plans for the program(s) tied directly to institutional initiatives with supports identified and linked to the annual resource process; and
  • Create meaningful change through systematic analysis of assessment results and other relevant information.

The primary audiences for the Comprehensive Program Review Self-Study and Reviewers' Report are the departmental faculty and staff, the relevant dean, the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the Provost, and key program stakeholders.
