Sports Medicine airs spots on Bills radio
This year’s football season marks the first time that the sports medicine division of University Orthopaedic Services is working with the Buffalo Bills radio network to sponsor pregame discussions about sport injuries. Called the UB Sports Medicine Injury 101 Class, the 30-second radio spot plugs the practice—the official team physicians for the Bills, Sabres and Bandits—during the morning pregame show. The spots run before every Bills game of the season, on the entire network of 23 radio stations in New York and Pennsylvania. Hosted by Rich Gaenzler, John Murphy, Paul Peck and Mark Kelso, a former Bill, Injury 101 highlights team injuries, like Trent Edwards’ concussion and deep thigh bruise, or discusses such common injuries as sprains and ACL tears.
“It’s been a great way to inform the public about our practice as we educate them about how to seek proper treatment for common sports- or activity-based injuries,” says Mike Rogers, director of finance at the practice.
University Orthopaedic Services also is pleased to announce that, as of October, its MRI unit is certified through the American College of Radiology. The practice was surveyed for MRI accreditation from the Commission on Quality and Safety and has been approved. The MRI accreditation program evaluates the entire process, including phantom and clinical images, quality control and safety guidelines.
