A Reuters article about a Southwest Airlines passenger who has been criticized for live-streaming the experience after an engine exploded on the plane Tuesday and a passenger was killed interviews Heidi Julian, professor of library and information studies in the UB Graduate School of Education, who said it was inevitable people would use technology to show such events and showed a desensitization to what people saw live. “This is not online television, this is people’s real lives,” she said.
