An article in USA Today about airline traffic, public transportation and businesses returning to normal across the East Coast following the weekend’s blizzard quotes Isaac Ehrlich, professor and chair of economics at UB, who said the storm might result in some economic positives as cleanup work boosts temporary employment. “Ironically, a storm like (this) can contribute to enhanced economic activity in the short term, due to cleanup and recovery services, enhanced construction work, replacement of lost stocks of capital and inventory,” he said.
