UB taking on mankind's 'really big problems'

An article in the Buffalo News reports UB has established three new Communities of Excellence that will tackle some of the toughest challenges facing mankind today. The article notes that the university has committed $25 million to the project, which will look at how health disparities across the globe can be reduced, how new manufacturing systems can be both ecologically and economically sustainable, and how an individual’s medical treatments can be more personalized based on a better understanding of an individual risks. The article quotes UB Provost Charles Zukoski, who said, “We have an awful lot of talent that exists on campus. We want UB to be known for working on really big problems.” An article also appeared in Business First.
