An article in Popular Science on researchers’ latest efforts to make addiction-proof painkillers quotes David Herzberg, associate professor of history. “Almost immediately when pharmaceutical companies started introducing products, they claimed they were either non-addictive or less addictive,” and then this claim would turn out to be false or at least overstated, he said. He also was quoted in Nautilus, an online science magazine.
