The New York Times interviews UB expert about crowdfunding of young people and its impact on nonprofits

Gregory Saxton, assistant professor of communication and director of graduate studies, is quoted in an article in The New York Times about the impact crowdfunding is having on nonprofits and the donations made by young people. Research shows that many donors don’t seem to particularly care whether or not a project they support is financially effective, he said. Rather, they are swayed by attention-getting videos and sentimental stories rather than the depth of the need.
