PBS NewsHour features expertise of UB earthquake engineering professor

Andre Filiatrault, professor of civil, structural and environmental engineering, was interviewed for a story on PBS NewsHour about a Colorado nonprofit, Build Change, that helps earthquake victims rebuild, going into affected areas after the emergency phase is over to investigate damaged and destroyed buildings. Filiatrault said he would like to see more emphasis on training for engineers in earthquake-prone areas, and discussed UB's partnership with Quisqueya University in Haiti on a series of engineering seminars and the plan to establish longer-term master's programs.
