Andre Filiatrault, director of MCEER, UB's national center of excellence focused on multi-hazard engineering headquartered at UB, is quoted in USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, Wall Street Journal and the Associated Press, among others, following Tuesday's 5.8 magnitude earthquake in central Virginia. Local and statewide media coverage also was extensive, thanks to a quickly arranged media briefing held in UB's earthquake center, where Filiatrault discussed the scientific significance of the earthquake and its psychological effects with television and radio reporters. He also was quoted in Business First, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Tonawanda News and the Dunkirk Observer. In addition, Filiatrault was interviewed by WMAC-Northeast Public Radio for broadcast in Albany and throughout the North Country.
