Elayne Rapping, professor emeritus of American studies, is quoted in an article in the New York Post about disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner buying flowers, presumably for his wife, outside their Queens home. "It's ridiculous, and it could make her angrier," Rapping said. "He knows there are photographers and reporters outside of his house. He could have easily called a florist and had flowers delivered to her – this seems to be more of a gesture for the press than for her."
