An article in the April 2007 issue of Smithsonian magazine looks at the lifestyle and traditions of Zuni Pueblo on the Zuni Indian Reservation in New Mexico and quotes Dennis Tedlock, professor of anthropology and author of a book on the art of the Zuni storyteller, who said, "The Zuni's complex social web seems to hold people. Their religion and language provide a point of ethnic identity. And their isolation has worked for them, but against them economically." Go to article.
