Buffalo, NY – PIPPIN is a razzle dazzle, song and dance experience. The show was originally directed and choreographed by the great Bob Fosse with music by Stephen Schwartz who composed Wicked and Godspell. The story follows PIPPIN, a young prince, as he searches to discover meaning and significance and what it means to lead an extraordinary life. The show bursts with excitement, spectacle, and passion with Schwartz's iconic music (including "Corner of the Sky," "Magic to Do," and "Extraordinary").

The University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance production of PIPPIN, will be directed by guest director and choreographer, Paul Stancato. Mr. Stancato, an awardwinning director, choreographer and show maker, has directed and choreographed across the USA and has Broadway credits that include The Wedding Singer. He has directed National Tours of The Lion King, Jekyll & Hyde, and Flashdance;and has worked Off-Broadway and in Las Vegas as director of Friends the Parody Musical. Regionally,

Stancato has directed In the Heights, Jekyll & Hyde, Grease, The Sound of Music, andThe Full Monty. He has been a nominee for the Mike Okrent Fellowship and for a Calloway Award. HE was appointed Artistic Director of Timber Lake Playhouse in Mount Carroll, IL. In 2017.

Nathan R. Matthews, UB Associate Professor and Director of Music Theatre, is the production’s music director. Matthews has worked on Broadway, across North America and abroad. He is a contributing author to THE OXFORD HANDBOOK OF SONDHEIM STUDIES, and is the founding Producing Artistic Director of New York’s Riverside Opera Ensemble where he has developed and produced new works of music theatre and has helmed events with the participation of Leonard Bernstein, Rosemary Harris and Harolyn Blackwell. In western New York, Matthews has music directed/conducted at UB, Irish Classical Theatre Company, Kavinoky Theatre, MusicalFare Theatre and at Artpark.

The cast and designers for PIPPIN are students from the UB Department of Theatre and Dance and include western New York area students Thomas Evans, Selina Iozzo, and Hannah Keller.

Pippin will take the Drama Theatre stage at the UB Center for The Arts this October 18th through the 28th, with evening and matinee performances. Tickets are available at ubcfa.org/tickets or through ticketfly. Patrons can also call the UBCFA Box Office at (716) 645 – 2787.
