BUFFALO, N.Y. — The grand opening of the new home of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

The new $375 million, 628,000-square-foot, eight-story building will bring 2,000 UB faculty, staff and students to downtown Buffalo each day.

Grand opening ceremony takes place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 12 at 955 Main St. Enter either on Washington Street or at the Main and High streets entrance.

Media arrangements: Ellen Goldbaum at goldbaum@buffalo.edu, or 716-645-4605, or 716-771-9255 onsite.

Note to media:  The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is the name of UB’s entire medical school, which comprises several UB buildings and offices.

The building at Main and High streets in Buffalo is the Jacobs School’s newest building.  While the building is new, the medical school, founded in 1846, is not. Thus, it is incorrect to say “UB is opening its new Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.” It is correct to say “UB is opening a new home (or new ‘headquarters’) for the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.”
